Eating GMO Food leads to Weight Gain

While this website is centered around weight loss and coffee beans, we wanted to take the time to shed light on some of the contributing factors to weight gain. It starts with where and how our food is sourced to begin with and how the body handles foods not found in nature.

Let’s open up the can of worms on why we gain weight in the first place and then discuss how pure green coffee bean extract works to help prevent fat gain.

Genetically modified foods are everywhere. A genetically modified food is one that is created in the lab and has genes from other animals, plants, and even viruses to give them new characteristics such as the ability to withstand droughts, extreme heat, insects, and disease. They are found in the majority of processed foods as well as fruits, vegetables, nuts, oils, and meats. They can be found on the shelves of just about every grocery store, but you’d never be able to tell just by looking at the nutrition labels. Most of these genetically modified (GMO) foods boast of having high nutritional benefits, but how nutritious can this “frankenfood” really be if it’s created in a lab?

Bad Food = Excess Weight gain

It is estimated that 91% of the soy products in the United States have genetically modified ingredients, as well as 88% of cottonseed crops and 85% of corn crops. Most genetically modified crops are processed into several ingredients that are commonly used in our foods such as soy lecithin, cottonseed oil, canola oil, corn syrup, sweeteners, and even baby formula! GMOs have become so common that unless a food is specifically marked “non-GMO”, it more than likely has genetically modified ingredients in it.

There has been a lot of controversy about the safety of consuming genetically modified foods ever since they were first introduced in the early 90s. A number of scientists have said that there is no scientific proof that genetically modified foods are harmful to human health. Nevertheless, many people believe that GMO foods may still be harmful to consume because there hasn’t been enough research carried out to determine the long-term health effects of consuming GMO foods.

gmo food weight gainIn light of recent research conducted by independent beekeepers, it has been found that genetically modified corn which has originated from Monsanto, a massive biotechnology company, may be causing the extinction of the world’s population of honey bees. In response to the claims, Monsanto started a company called Beelogics which would investigate the Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD). However, many skeptics are saying that this company was started simply just to deny any connection between their genetically modified crops and the decline of the bee population.

Hopefully we do not see the same trends happening with green coffee beans either. As it is only the health benefits of pure green coffee extract come from raw, untreated green coffee which contain chlorogenic acid.

As of today, there are over 30 countries including Australia, the European Union, and Japan that have banned or restricted the sale of genetically modified crops. Unfortunately, the United States is not one of those countries. The Food and Drug Administration ruled that there is no material difference between traditional crops and genetically modified crops as long as it smells, tastes, looks like, and has the same nutritional value as the real thing. In other words, if it looks like a duck, smells like a duck, and tastes like a duck, then it must be a duck.
